Torco Race Fuels announces major marketing partnership with International Hot Rod Association; Named Official Race Fuel of the IHRA!
October 28, 2004 Torco Race Fuels has entered into an extensive multi-year marketing agreement with the International Hot Rod Association to serve as the Official Race Fuel of the IHRA and sponsor Pro Modified and Pro Stock classes. Included in the three-year commitment is a $20,000-to-win, eight-car shootout of both Pro Modified and Pro Stock. Torco Race Fuels will also serve as the sponsor of the IHRA’s Northern Nationals in Martin, MI., and the President’s Cup Nationals in Budds Creek, Md. A special bonus program has also been created for Torco Race Fuels’ nitromethane brand that rewards the #8 qualifier in Top Fuel with a check for $1,000.
The multi-dimensional initiative is part of a major push to create brand awareness for Torco Race Fuels and the package goods it produces.
“We are very excited about the programs we have before us,” said Evan Knoll, President of Torco Race Fuels. “The game plan for Torco Race Fuels has been to produce the best products we can at the most cost-efficient price for the racer, whether they are a sportsman or a professional.
“We plan to put more representatives in the field and create more awareness for the product and our distributors.”
IHRA President Aaron Polburn is excited about the opportunity the IHRA has to partner with Torco Race Fuels.
“You’d be hard pressed to find a more enthusiastic team than the fine folks at Torco Race Fuels,” Polburn said. “Evan Knoll has surrounded himself with a talented team and that will make our involvement exciting and innovative. I am looking forward to assisting them in their program that is designed to take Torco Race Fuels well beyond the next level.”
With this multi-year agreement, Torco Race Fuels will become the exclusive on-site fuel at all twelve Hooters IHRA Drag Racing Series events in 2005 and beyond.
Another significant aspect of this package will be the branding of the popular professional doorslammer categories as Torco Race Fuels Pro Modified and Torco Race Fuels Pro Stock. In addition, Torco Race Fuels will become the spec fuel of the Torco Race Fuels Pro Stock division.
The first annual Torco Race Fuels Pro Stock Showdown will be contested in Budds Creek during the Torco Race Fuels President’s Cup Nationals in September 2005. The winner will receive $20,000; the runner-up will earn $9,000. The semi-finalists will pocket $2,500 and the quarter-finalists net $1,500. Each national event will pay out the following: #1 qualifier $400, #2 qualifier $300, #3 qualifier $200 and #4 qualifier $100. Torco Race Fuels Pro Stock Showdown drivers began accumulating points at the Amalie Oils North American Nationals in September.
The first annual Torco Race Fuels Pro Modified Showdown will be contested in Martin, MI., during the Torco Race Fuels Northern Nationals. The Torco Race Fuels Pro Modified Shootout drivers will begin accumulating points at the Amalie Oil Texas Nationals in March 2005.
Qualifying positions for both special events will be based on qualifying positions at all Hooters IHRA national events.
Torco Race Fuels first sponsored the Torco Race Fuels Northern Nationals at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, MI., in 2004. Based on the success of that event, Torco Race Fuels has committed to three additional years and entered the highly lucrative Washington D.C./Baltimore market with the sponsorship of the Torco Race Fuels President’s Cup Nationals at Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek, Md.
Torco President Knoll became a licensed Top Fuel driver in 2004, and wanted to include his class in the rewards package. Knoll plans to run a limited IHRA Top Fuel race schedule in 2005.
“We figured the guy who qualifies on the bubble is the one that needs it the most,” said Knoll. “The eighth spot is a tough one because it always means that team has to run the number one qualifier in the first round. This provides an extra bonus for that team.”
The program will carry the moniker “On the Bubble? No Trouble with Torco Racing Fuels – Drag Racing’s Pure Nitromethane.”
Torco Race Fuels plans to include their IHRA Hooters Drag Racing Series involvement as part of a multi-targeted advertising campaign aimed to ensure the company’s position as the largest supplier of racing gas, both public and private label.
Torco Race Fuels plans additional major announcements regarding marketing programs with a prominent electronic magazine devoted to drag racing as well as key major and associate sponsorships in both professional and sportsman competition.
